FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

I choose not to participate in insurance panels so that I can practice in a way that is fully guided by your child’s needs— not by insurance limitations. Not contracting with insurance allows me to maintain a smaller caseload and to offer support services like parenting sessions and school consultation without billing constraints. Working privately supports the level of attentiveness and continuity that I believe children and families deserve.

Furthermore, when insurance is used, a formal mental health diagnosis is required. For some families, especially when concerns are early or developmental, this may not feel appropriate.

It is important to me that cost does not impede your access to services. Therefore, I will work with you to access your out of network benefits and get reimbursement from your insurance. Many clients receive a significant amount back after their deductible is met.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

Initial Parent Intake (75-90 minutes): $200

Play therapy/ child psychotherapy (45-50 minutes) : $150

Parent support sessions (60 minutes), when an adjunct to weekly individual child pay therapy sessions: $75

Parent support sessions (60 minutes), when child is not also being seen individually: $150

School observations (2 hours), including write up with recommendations: $350

Attending school meetings (up to one hour): $200

A limited number of sliding scale spots are available to those who qualify.

FSA and HSA accepted.

We can help you access your out-of-network benefits and receive reimbursement, making the actual cost of therapy less than the original out of pocket fees.

HOW DO WE GET STARTED?

After you reach out by using the contact page or by sending an email to susan@parmarplaytherapy.com, we will schedule a brief free consultation call for you to share what has prompted you to seek support and to ask any initial questions about my approach.

If we decide together that I am a good fit for your family, we will schedule an initial parent intake— a thoughtful and collaborative meeting where we begin to understand your child’s story and your goals for therapy.
