Hi, I’m Susan Parmar, M. Ed., LPC

Before entering private practice, I worked as an elementary school counselor, supporting children within the complexity of real-world family and school systems. This experience provided an intimate understanding of how emotional struggles show up in classrooms, peer relationships and daily life— and how essential early intervention can be.

I have extensive training in Child-Centered Play Therapy, grounding my work in a developmentally attuned, evidence- based model that honors play as the child’s most natural form of communication. My clinical approach is further informed by ongoing education in a psychoanalytic model. This way of thinking allows me to consider the deeper emotional patterns, attachment dynamics, and relational histories shaping a child’s world.

This integration— school-based insight, specialized play therapy training, and psychodynamic depth— forms the foundation of my work.

Equally important is my experience as a mother. Parenting has deepened my appreciation for the vulnerability, complexity and profound responsibility involved in raising children. It has strengthened my commitment to partnering with parents in a way that is respectful, collaborative and steady.

Parmar Play Therapy was created from this intersection of clinical rigor and lived experience. I offer a highly individualized therapeutic experience designed to meet the needs of children and families— not simply to reduce symptoms, but to cultivate resilience, emotional fluency, and secure relationships.
